IRONBRIDGE VICTORIAN ADVENTURE DAY

10.00 Depart Telford

10.15 Arrive at Blists Hill, an authentically reconstructed Victorian Town and one of the sites of the world famous Ironbridge Gorge Museum. The fist port of call must be the bank to change modern money for Victorian coins to spend at the various shops. Then wander through the streets of the town past working factories, shops and cottages to the Forest Glen, an exquisite Victorian Tea Room.

11.00 Tea at the Forest Glen

11.30 Join the Victorian townsfolk as they go about their daily lives in the small community at the end of Queen Victoria’s reign. Fund a cure for ‘drunkenness’ in the chemist, talk about the ‘latest’ Parish fashions in the Drapers and discover how Victorians crafted the household objects of the day.

12.30 Enjoy a traditional Shropshire pint and a Victorian lunch at the New Inn Pub while listening to the sounds of the locals singing along to the piano.

14.00 Drive through the World Heritage Site of the Ironbridge Gorge, stop at the Toll House and cross the world’s first Iron Bridge and enjoy the beautiful setting where the Industrial Revolution began.

14.30 Scenic drive with views of the River Severn to Jackfield Tile Museum. Here, you can wander through the original gas-lit trade show room, galleries and period room setting where you can see, touch and even walk on magnificent British tiles. You can walk through an old tube station, the bar of a hotel and a children’s hospital.

15.30 Enjoy a Victorian cream tea at the museum café.

16.00 Return to Telford

N.B. Coach parking is available Blists Hill car park, in the Jackfield Tile Museum car park and at the Station car park by the Toll House.
