Morning

Steam into Shropshire on the Severn Valley Railway (01299 403816). Sixteen miles of nostalgia through glorious countryside. Board the train at Kidderminster or Bewdley.

Arrive in Bridgnorth your groups can wander around this fine hilltop town maybe including a trip on England's oldest and steepest funicular railway (01746 762124) or visit the Cartway, an ancient route between the High Town and Low Town and the river. They can marvel at the castle which out-leans the Tower of Pisa.

Afternoon

Bridgnorth/Daniel's Mill (Signposted 1/2 mile from junction of B4555 to Highley and B4363 to Cleobury Mortimer - 3/4 mile).

Visit Daniel's Mill (01746 762753). In an idyllic setting in a deep wooded valley, Daniel's Mill is virtually unaltered since the eighteenth century. Groups can see wheat being turned into flour the traditional way. The waterwheel is the largest in England still powering a working cornmill. Displays of country and domestic bygones complete an experience of yesteryear.

Blists Hill Museum (Group Visits Advisor 01952 433522). One of the museums of the Ironbridge Gorge, a World Heritage site, Blists Hill is a working Victorian town. Costumed nineteenth century people go about their daily business - making candles, baking bread, casting iron. Visitors can change twenty-first century money into Victorian shillings and pence to spend in the shops or in the New Inn where a pint of beer will cost four pence and three farthings.
