Dorothy Clive Garden to host Farmers Market on Sunday 9th October (5th October 2011)

Dorothy Clive Garden to host Farmers Market on Sunday 9th October

The Dorothy Clive Garden will host a Farmers’ Market on Sunday 9th October from 10.00am to 2.00pm as part of the Autumn Colour Open Weekends during October. There will be over twenty farmers, growers and producers from the local area selling their produce that has been grown, reared, caught, brewed, pickled, baked, smoked or processed by each stallholder.

Curator, Marcus Chilton-Jones, said, ‘We are thrilled to be supporting the local community by hosting the Farmers Market at the Dorothy Clive Garden. There will be over 20 stall holders as well as live music. As autumn often provides the most interesting visual spectacle of the gardening year, with berries, hips and other fruits that adorn the garden, it makes the perfect setting for a family day out.’

The tearoom which is situated in the heart of the garden will be selling piping hot home-made soup, a selection of teas and a full range of blended and filtered coffee.

One of the stall holders, Neil, from the Kitchens at Horsley said, ‘We're really looking forward to showcasing our products at the Dorothy Clive Garden Farmers' Market and meeting many of the visitors and other local artisan producers. We make a range of chutneys, sauces, pickles and preserves that bring together traditional ingredients but with an added twist. What started out as a few Christmas present ideas last year for friends and family, has now become an ever expanding range of products that can be found in several delis, farm shops, pubs and restaurants across the Midlands and beyond.

Admission is £3.00 per person and the Market is from 10.00am to 2.00pm. The garden will be open until 4.00pm. The event is free for members of the garden.
