Half Term Activities at the National Trust's Dudmaston Estate (12th October 2011)

Half Term Activities at the National Trust's Dudmaston Estate

The staff at the National Trust’s Dudmaston Estate have been working hard to develop a range of workshops and activities that families can take part in during the school half-term holidays which they will be running from their meeting centre located at Mose.

Drawing on the success of the children’s activities which were run in the Bridgnorth High Street Shop last year, there are a number of activities that families can choose from.

Activities and workshops will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday  (25th and 26th October), where families will be able to take part in Nature Hunts and Bird Walks; and can make besom brooms to compliment the children’s trick or treat outfits; or bird boxes to support their garden visitors.

There will also be workshops on Friday, 28th October which will be dedicated to lantern making.  Here families will not only get the opportunity to carve their own pumpkins (without all the mess at home), but will also be shown how to make willow lanterns, which will be used in the first ever Dudmaston Lantern Walk on Sunday, 30th October.

Property Administrator Nikki Hook said “Mose is a lovely part of the Estate, most particularly at this time of year, surrounded by all the lovely Autumn colours, and we want to give everyone the opportunity to learn some new skills whilst enjoying time together as a family.  We are really excited by the idea of a lantern walk through the Dingle and hope that as many people as possible join us at the workshops to help us make the walk a success”

All the materials are included in the workshops which are reasonably priced and adults can come along free (as long as they bring the children).  Places will be limited and lunch can be provided but booking is essential.  Further details can be found on Dudmaston’s website or by calling the Estate Office on (01746) 780838 where places can also be booked.
