Half term children’s art competition (20th October 2011)

Children visiting Cherry's Cafe in Coalbrookdale, over the October half term will have the chance to win prizes if they enter the week-long competition. Cherry's will be running a self-portrait art contest from Friday 22 to Sunday 30 October for visitors to the Cafe at the Greenwood Centre.

"The Greenwood Centre in Coalbrookdale, where the Cafe is based, is a great location for families. There's plenty of safe outdoor space for children to run around, and we have seating undercover on our large deck so parents can sit comfortably while the children play - we are very child friendly," explains Polly Cherry who runs Cherry's Cafe.

"We'll be providing mirrors, paper and art materials for children to enter the competition while the parents enjoy a relaxing coffee or light snack.

 "It seems a good way to entertain the children who visit the cafe, and will provide enjoyable viewing for our café visitors." she says.

The competition is split into three age groups, and will be judged by the Jude Walker, Chief Executive of the Greenwood Centre.  Entries are free and prizes will be awarded to the winner of each category. Children can also produce their artwork at home and bring it in ready to be displayed in the Woodland Hall adjacent to the Cafe.

During half term, the Cafe will be open from 11am - 3pm from Wednesday to Sunday. The Green Wood Craft Shop will also be open on site during these times too.
