Christmas Shopping at the Ironbridge Gorge Museums (10th November 2011)

With shops packed with unusual gift ideas the Ironbridge Gorge Museums are the place to head in the run up to Christmas. To help you make a dent in your Christmas shopping list they are holding a series of free special shopping events.

The Museum’s flagship store in Ironbridge will throw open its doors on Saturday, 19th November.  The Museum Gift Shop, adjacent to the Iron Bridge, will be open from 5pm to 8pm.  Here you’ll find a beautiful range of gifts, confectionary and Christmas decorations alongside exquisite items from the Museum’s prestigious ‘Made in The Gorge’ and ‘From our Collections’ ranges.  A troop of ‘Santa’s Little Helpers’ will be waiting to give out a free gift to all who make a purchase.  The Ironbridge Christmas lights will be switched-on the same evening.

Christmas shopping goes VIP with an exclusive event at the entrance shop at Blists Hill Victorian Town on Thursday, 24th November.  Between 5.30pm and 8pm you can browse our lovely festive products, enjoy complimentary refreshments, food samples, festive music and entry into a free prize draw.  For an exclusive invite for you and a friend for this event contact Shirley Bill on 01952 435 900 or email

Admission to Enginuity will be free so you can let the kids play while you shop in peace on the evening of Saturday, 26th November between 5.30pm and 7.30pm for a ‘techno’ Christmas shopping experience.  Here you will find the shop brimming with creative, fun and interactive toys and gadgets.

The Coalport Christmas Sale is a must for anyone who loves fine china, crystal and beautiful jewellery.  Over the weekend of Saturday, 3rd and Sunday 4th December you’ll be able to enjoy a glass of mulled wine and a delicious mince pie as you browse for the perfect Christmas gifts.  The specialist china shop which features leading home-ware brands such as Wedgwood, Aynsley, Portmeirion and Spode will be selling selected stock at up to 25% discount.

Traci Dix-Williams said: ‘Christmas is a wonderful time of year at the Ironbridge Gorge Museums, all our shops are packed with unusual gift ideas, including magnificent handmade items, home ware and delicate jewellery. The museum’s shops are a great way to avoid the crowds and find something really special for friends and family.’
