Gloomy outlook? You’re having a laugh! (20th February 2012)

Hadley Park Hotel in Shropshire is hoping to brighten the current economic gloom by giving its guests the chance to enjoy some of the Best of British & Irish Comedy in 2012. The Fawlty Towers experience has become an established part Hadley Park House Hotel’s events calendar in the last couple of years, and is once again expected to be a sell-out occasion when it returns “by popular demand” on the evening of Friday, March 16th.

That’s the day when this top-rated Telford hotel is once again transformed into Fawlty Towers, as Basil Fawlty, Manuel and Sybil bring an evening of mayhem and madness to the establishment.

The original British Fawlty Towers Touring Company, Laughlines, debuted the hit Fawlty Towers Dinner Show in 1997 - and has continued to put on sell-out performances which receive rave reviews in national media.

The show has been filmed by ITV Television, Channel 4 Television and recorded by the BBC, Ireland’s NewsTalk and Stephanie Abrahams American radio.  The professional cast have the characters’ mannerisms down to a tee, and use a high-energy mix of improvisation and perfect comedy timing to deliver what they describe as “a delicious evening of unforgettable entertainment”.

Instead of receiving a warm welcome from General Manager Mark Lewis, guests attending these evenings will step inside a hotel inhabited by snobbish, manic Basil Fawlty; his domineering wife, Sybil; and the hapless, language-challenged waiter from Barcelona, Manuel.

The price for the laughter-packed event is £45 per person, to include a three-course dinner.

Guests who would like to stay overnight in Hadley Park House Hotel are being offered a special rate of just £80 per room – with an upgrade also available for £45 (to include a bottle of champagne, and bed-and-breakfast in an Executive Room).

Tickets for the Fawlty Towers’ experience on March are expected to sell-out very quickly.  Anyone wishing to book their place is advised to telephone the hotel on 01952-677269; or e-mail info@hadleypark.co.uk.

The next event on the Best of British & Irish comedy schedule at Hadley Park House Hotel will be An Evening with Father Ted on Friday, June 8th.
