Easter Creative Ceramic Workshops in the Ironbridge Gorge (14th March 2012)

Easter Creative Ceramic Workshops in the Ironbridge Gorge

Take part in a creative ceramic workshop during the Easter school holidays to decorate your own tiles and mugs or make a clay pot for your garden at the Ironbridge Gorge Museums, Shropshire.

At Coalport China Museum you will be able to join spring flower, fruit and gardening themed drop-in sessions to either paint ceramic mugs with botanic designs or decorate bone china flowers.  You can also try using clay to sculpt something practical for your own garden or windowsill, such as a ceramic plant marker or a pot to grow some tasty cress from seed. These activities will vary from day-to-day and carry an extra charge plus p&p to send home after firing; there will also be some free paper painting Easter themed activities. Taking place daily between 2 – 6 April and 9 – 13 April, the sessions run from 11am to 1pm, and again at 2pm-4pm.

Over at nearby Jackfield Tile Museum you’ll learn the technique known as ‘tube lining’ or ‘slip-trailing’ to decorate a 6 x 6 inch tile featuring your chosen design and colours from a range of Easter themes such as bunnies and baby chicks. The price is £7.95 per tile (p&p extra to have your tile sent home after firing) plus the museum admission fee. These workshops will be held daily between the 2 – 5 April and 10 - 13 April starting from 10am, but allowing up to 1½ hours to decorate your tile, last admission is at 3.15pm.

Open 10am to 5pm Jackfield and Coalport are both Ironbridge Gorge Museums. A great value Annual Passport Ticket allowing entry into all ten museums, valid for twelve months and unlimited return visits, costs £23.25 per adult, £18.75 for the 60 plus, £15.25 for students and children and £64 for a family of two adults and all their children aged up to 18 years in full time education (terms and conditions apply); under 5s free. Activities and workshops vary day-to-day and some carry an extra charge in addition to the museum admission fee. Individual museum entry tickets are also available.

For further information, contact the Ironbridge Tourist Information Centre on Tel: 01952 433 424 or visit www.ironbridge.org.uk.  The Gorge is easily reached via the M6 and M54 motorways exiting at Telford (M54 junction 4 or 6).
