£3 MILLION TOURING PARK OPENS AND PREPARES FOR BUSY WEEKEND (10th May 2012)

The new £3 million Ludlow Touring Park officially opened its gates yesterday (Wednesday) as the managers prepared for a bumper weekend.

Edward Goddard, managing director of Morris Leisure, who own the park, said the opening was a reward for months of hard work and planning.

“I am absolutely delighted by the response and the number of caravanners coming to stay at Ludlow Touring Park,” he added. “We had a trial run last weekend when 70 caravanners from across the country, who supported our planning application for the park, accepted an invitation to come and stay and we’ve had lots of ‘Thank you’ letters.

“We had 18 bookings for the first day and we are virtually full for the next two weekends. People are coming to visit Ludlow and enjoy the beautiful South Shropshire countryside.

“We believe the park is going to enhance the local tourism offer and generate around £2 million a year for Ludlow and surrounding area, which has got to be good news for the local economy in these challenging times.”

Tourism and Heritage Minister, John Penrose, recently paid a visit to the luxury touring caravan and motorhome park, when he commended the large-scale investment in a “wonderful destination”.

The 20-acre park, which has 135 pitches and has been developed to five star standard, sits alongside the River Teme and has good road links to the A49 near Richards Castle.
