Myth and Magic event at Hawkstone Park (5th July 2012)

A Shropshire tourist attraction is to fall under the spell of the ‘Land of Elisard’ for two days as part of its annual Myth and Magic Weekend

Each year the historic Follies at Hawkstone Park in Weston-under-Redcastle is transformed into a fairytale land for one weekend to allow children to embark on a magical quest around the beautiful caves and forests of the Follies.

This year, Improbable Fiction theatre company will return to give an interactive performance of the mythical story ‘The Stones of Elisard’ where children can collect the necessary clues to solve the quest and banish the unruly ‘Unseen’.

The Follies will become the ‘Land of Elisard’ between 10.30am and 4pm on Saturday, July 14 and Sunday, July 15.

Bryn Holding, the artistic director of Improbable Fiction, can’t wait to take over the Follies once again.

“The Myth and Magic event has always been very popular, and is one of the highlights of Hawkstone’s annual events programme,” he said.

“We wanted to build on last year’s success of ‘The Tale of the Stolen Heart’ by taking it one step further and concentrating the performances in the magical, historical caves.

“The idea behind the story in such a beautiful setting like Hawkstone which is so steeped in history, myth and legend was to create a script which took its inspiration from Hawkstone’s connection with King Arthur and the Chronicles of Narnia.

“The Quest is theatrical, interactive, rewarding and is sure to bring this magical landscape of Hawkstone Park’s Follies to life.”

There is no additional cost – usual admission prices to The Follies apply and for more information call 01948 841700.
