Guided walk, 30 September: Much Wenlock robbed of gold by a naked giant? (11th September 2012)

Want to know what the title of this walk in Much Wenlock is all about? Join walk leader and storyteller, Keith Pybus, for a town trail of discovery on Sunday 30 September, 10.30am - 1pm.

Keith explains “It will be a gentle walk around the town, to explore Much Wenlock’s initially rich legacy and how it emerged intact from 19th century stagnation thanks to the efforts of Dr Brookes, the inspiration of the modern Olympic Movement, and his friends.”

Keith continues “The 2012 Games have been a success story and we are going to find out how The Games are also an integral part of the town’s successful development.”

The walk starts from the The Square in Much Wenlock at 10.30am and will finish around 1pm.  Booking is essential, please call Alison at the AONB Partnership office, on 01588 674080 or email stephanie.hayes@shropshire.gov.uk.  The cost is £4 or £3 for members of Friends of the Shropshire Hills AONB.

For information – Sunday 30 September is the final day of the Wenlock Wanderer Shuttle bus service from Church Stretton.  The Shuttle arrives at Much Wenlock’s main bus stop at 10am, so plenty of time to join the walk, enjoy lunch and catch the 3.10pm Shuttle bus back to Church Stretton. Show us your Shuttle ticket and join the guided walk for free!
