Traders at Shrewsbury Market Hall are gearing up to support the BBC’s Children in Need campaign.

A whole host of activities will be taking place tomorrow [FRI] at the indoor market to raise funds for disadvantaged children and young people in the UK.

Annaliese Powell, from Shawbury Village Players, will be face-painting on the gallery level, Viv and Trevor Wootton of L&E Designs, also on the gallery level, will be asking shoppers to guess the number of sweets in a jar and there will be a raffle with prizes donated by stallholders Glory Goldsmith, House of Hen, Turtle Doves, Mirage Mediterranean Café, Pengwern Books, Gluten Free Living and Shropshire Chocolates.

Glory Goldsmith and House of Hen will also be donating 10 per cent of their takings on the day to the Children in Need fund.

Mamapie’s Bake Shop will donate £1 from each Pudsey cookie and cupcake and Cheeky Charlie’s Cosmetics will be donating £1 from every nail re-varnish.

Kate Gittins, site facilities manager at Shrewsbury Market Hall said: “We have a whole host of exciting fundraising activities planned for tomorrow [FRI], in line with the televised appeal, there will be plenty to keep shoppers entertained, while raising funds for a great cause at the same time.”
Last year BBC Children in Need 2011 raised £26,332,334 on the night, and more than £46 million in total, which  goes to organisations in the UK working with children who have mental, physical or sensory disabilities; behavioural or psychological disorders; are living in poverty or situations of deprivation; or suffering through distress, abuse or neglect.
