COMBERMERE STRIKES GOLD IN VISITENGLAND'S 'AWARDS OF EXCELLENCE' (22nd May 2013)

COMBERMERE STRIKES GOLD IN VISITENGLAND'S 'AWARDS OF EXCELLENCE'

Combermere Abbey won a Gold Award at the climax of the VisitEngland's 'Awards of Excellence', the Winners’ Awards Ceremony which took place on Monday 20th May 2013.

The Awards showcase the crème de la crème of English tourism, and are a celebration of the successes and achievements of a wide range of tourism products, from cottages to large hotels, visitor attractions and many more.

All of the self-catering businesses in the finals were each individual winners of regional heats throughout England, so the competition was stiff. Commenting on the Award James Beresford, VisitEngland’s Chief Executive said:

“The quality of the 320 applications we received was very high making the competition for a Gold Award extremely tough.  It is therefore a tremendous achievement for Combermere Abbey to win a Gold Award, the highest accolade for Excellence in Tourism which VisitEngland can bestow.  They raised the bar for excellence which others can aspire to.  I warmly congratulate them".

Winning their category ‘Self-Catering Holiday Provider of the Year’ has placed Combermere Abbey Cottages as officially the best that England has to offer! The team celebrated their win at a glittering black tie awards ceremony at Old Trafford.

Sarah Callander Beckett, Combermere Abbey’s owner, was thrilled to collect the Gold Award on stage along with her team, she commented:

“I am delighted and hugely proud of the team at Combermere to have won this Gold Award of Excellence. This is the pinnacle of twenty years of consistent dedication and investment to consistently improve and add value to our product. Our repeat clients show us that we are doing something right and this National Award is certainly the icing on the cake!”

The ten cottages have benefited from extensive work and development during recent years. As well as being stylish and well appointed, they are also applauded for their eco-friendly credentials. The cottages are popular with wedding guests at the Abbey estate, as well as leisure guests visiting the Shropshire and Cheshire regions.
