Take the whole family on a cycle holiday with no price hikes for school holidays (12th February 2014)

Take the whole family on a cycle holiday with no price hikes for school holidays

Save up to 50 per cent on new Wheely Wonderful Cycling holiday prices for teenagers and children during 2014 with no price hikes for school holidays.

Wheely Wonderful Cycling, based at Elton, between Presteigne and Ludlow, has a policy of never increasing its prices over the school holiday period; they are the same all year round.

The company has also extended its child prices in 2014 to include all teenagers under 16 years old. Families can make a saving of up to 50 per centre for children under 12 years and 30% saving for teenagers under 16 years.

It means all the family can take advantage of Wheely Wonderful Cycling's range of 30 cycling and walking holidays based on the English / Welsh borders, with virtually traffic free cycle routes, luggage transfers and carefully chosen accommodation.

All prices for teenagers and children are based on sharing a family room or family suite with two adults.

Kay Dartnell from Wheely Wonderful Cycling said: "We have introduced some new accommodation this year with more family rooms and family suites, so that we have been able to reduce our children and teenager prices on our short break and longer holidays."

Cycling and canoeing holidays and longer, more challenging tours are the most popular choice for families with teenagers.

Wheely Wonderful Cycling's newest cycle tour for 2014 provides both these options. The Wye Valley Cycling and Canoeing holiday, combines a three-day cycle tour through the Welsh borders and the half-timbered villages of Herefordshire, with a day canoeing down the River Wye in a Canadian canoe.

It includes three nights B&B at Presteigne and Hay on Wye and on the cycling days there is a choice of cycle rides, so that teenagers can cycle longer distances if they want to challenge their parents. All the accommodation has free wi fi.

The holiday costs £375 per adult, £280 for under 16s and £215 for under 12s.

For younger children there is a range of Family Farmhouse cycling holidays, which involve a shorter cycle ride each day.  Available either as a short break or a six-day cycle tour, staying in Clun, Ludlow and the black and white village of Kingsland, the holiday costs £475 per adult, £255 for under 12s and £330 for under 16s.

Chris Dartnell, of Wheely Wonderful Cycling, says: "There is loads to see and do on this holiday. On the first day, you cycle upstream along the River Teme. Stop at a Roman village for lunch, where the riverside inn has a great garden.

"Next stop Brampton Bryan with a coracle maker and a castle (the scene of a famous siege in the civil war – Lady Brilliana against the Parliamentarian army). Just before Bucknell is the great mound of Coxall knoll, site of King Caractacus' last stand against the Romans.  That’s in the first 10 miles before you get to Bucknell."
