Ludlow Food Centre to open deli cafe in the town centre (25th March 2014)

Ludlow Food Centre to open deli cafe in the town centre

Ludlow Food Centre has taken over the lease of a prominently positioned shop in Ludlow's High Street to open a delicatessen café selling the company's award winning, home made food.

The double fronted shop, at 10A and B, High Street, which was previously occupied by Marches Outdoors, has been let by commercial agents Halls on a 10-year lease. Five part-time jobs will be created by the new enterprise.

The shop has a sales area of 741 square feet on two floors and was on the market with Halls for a guide annual rent of £14,500.

Edward Berry, Ludlow Food Centre’s managing director, said the deli café would provide an additional outlet in Ludlow for the company’s popular home-made food, including cheeses, bread and cakes.

“We think Ludlow is a perfect place for a deli café showcasing our local, home-made quality food,” he added. “If this new venture is successful, there is no reason to stop us opening more.”

Ludlow Food Centre, which opened seven years ago, has won an impressive list of awards, the latest of which was Britain’s Best Food Hall in the Farm Shop & Deli Awards in January.

James Evans, Halls’ commercial manager, said he was delighted that Ludlow Food Centre had decided to open a deli café in such a prominent position in the town centre.

“Having developed a reputation as the food capital of England, Ludlow is a prime location for retail businesses,” he added. “Vacant shops in the main retail streets are keenly sought after and we urgently need more commercial properties in the town to meet demand from business clients.”
