Skin care shop opens at a Farm Shop near Bridgnorth (14th May 2014)

Elizabeth Beckett Skincare is a Bridgnorth based family run business making skin care products from locally sourced oil seed rape. On 26 April 2014, she opened The Skin Care Shop at Apley Farm Shop, her first retail unit, having previously only sold her products on her website, beauty salons & local shops.

There are eight products in her range so far - lavender handcream, peppermint foot cream, Apley gardeners’ handcream, rose & frankincense face cream, geranium cleanser, rose body cream, rose body oil & spearmint after shave balm. She will be developing new products over the next year, perfect for special presents as well as every day use.

Her skincare range is made in her new shop in Apley Farm Shop’s courtyard, so customers can actually watch Elizabeth make her products. For those with specific skincare needs, it’s possible to request bespoke creams. For example, the preservative she normally uses to extend shelf life can be excluded on request.

“We are delighted that Elizabeth has opened her beautiful shop and beauty centre at Apley Farm Shop” commented Lord Gavin Hamilton, owner of the Apley Farm Shop complex. “It really compliments our ethos of supplying great quality & locally sourced products and I am sure that our customers will love her shop.”

From 1 June, therapists will be working from Elizabeth’s shop at Apley, offering a variety of treatments. These will include aromatherapy face & back massages, luxury nail & foot treatments, Reiki, Indian head massage & Hopi ear candles.

“I’m passionate about using local British produce, trying to bring the manufacturing of skincare products back to the UK, going back to grass roots, making quality skin care products“ explained Elizabeth. “It’s important to know what you’re putting on your skin & reducing beauty miles.”

She’s made her own skincare products for years, using argon oil, almond oil & coconut oil & wondered where all these oils were coming from. She read lots of books including old recipes for skin care products, before they were commercially developed, when medicines & creams were always made at home using medicinal plants from the kitchen garden.

“Rape seed oil contains naturally occurring vitamin E, omega 3, 6 & 9. It’s a very popular food, so I wondered why not put it on our skin too,” continued Elizabeth.

A bigger launch is planned in July. For details, visit or or call Elizabeth on 01952 730 575.
