Treat Dad to a day of hobbies at Dudmaston (10th June 2014)

Dudmaston Estate will be giving Dads the opportunity to indulge their love of hobbies with their Father’s Day event on Sunday, 15 June 2014.

The National Trust property; situated approximately 3 miles outside of Bridgnorth in Shropshire; will have a number of activities taking place on the day, from archery with Shropshire Scouts where visitors can try their hand; vintage cars and bicycles in the orchard and some very special feathered friends escorted on the property by Feather Perfect Falconry.

Entitled ‘Captain Geoffrey’s Discovery Day’ after Captain Geoffrey Wolryche-Whitmore who bequeathed the estate to his niece Rachel, Lady Labouchere, the day is aimed at treating Dads to some of those things they like to get involved in but rarely get the time. Plus in the shop we’ve got a special offer just for the day, with 20% off Three Tuns Brewery ales, a perfect gift for Dad!

What if it rains? Well we’ll still be having fun outdoors but there is always the Somme art exhibition in the hall for a quick dry off. Made of brown paper and cardboard by Birmingham City University students, it is a life size model of the trenches of WWI.

Visitor Experience and Events Officer, Ruth Watson said: “this event will give Dad a really good day out with the family. Feather Perfect Falconry will be joining us with their wonderful display of birds, which are a site to behold as they fly across the gardens. There will also be an extra opportunity for families to have a go at another type of flying as they make their very own kites to take home or fly in the Park. We are looking forward to seeing just how high they can get!”
