Help us ‘Welcome in the May’. Morris Dancers and May Day fun at Dudmaston. Monday 4th May 11:00am - 5:30pm (28th April 2015)

Help us ‘Welcome in the May’. Morris Dancers and May Day fun at Dudmaston. Monday 4th May 11:00am - 5:30pm

Visit Dudmaston on Monday 4 May and experience our traditional May Day event, where we ‘Welcome in the May’ and celebrate the coming of summer. Enjoy the wonderful and colourful Shrewsbury Morris Dancers, tie a ribbon to our May tree and make a wish. Children can make a Green Man mask or May Queen crown and then join in the music and dancing when we raise the tree at 3.30pm.

Events and Marketing Officer, Caroline Norcott, said “We love our May Day event; it means that summer is on its way. The apple trees in the orchard are just beginning to blossom and we will be adding a ribbon to the May tree to wish for a good harvest for our Orchard Day in October. Shrewsbury Morris Dancers will be joining us again this year which always provides good entertainment. We have all been practising our dancing so you may well witness a few staff and volunteers ‘having a go’ on the side-lines, wearing their May Queen crowns and possibly the odd Green Man mask! “

There are plenty of other things for people to enjoy including a new exhibition, ‘Unheard Voices’ in the Galleries, which provides visitors with a special moment of peace and reflection amongst all the May Day fun.

Normal admission charge applies with a small additional charge for crafts.
