Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre celebrates National Bike Week at Family Fun Day on Sunday 14th June

The award winning Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre hosts a family fun day this Sunday 14th June. There will be a bouncy castle, family fun games such as egg and spoon races, sack races, face painting, smoothie making and children will get the chance to make their very own dream catcher. Shropshire Fire and Rescue will also be on hand to show children the fire engine and offer fire safety advice and the volunteers who run the community garden will be doing a number of demonstrations on how to grow your own produce and get the best out of your veg patch.

This is a family fun day with a difference, the team at the Discovery Centre have teamed up with local cycle companies to offer a range of cycling activities throughout the day to celebrate National Bike Week.

Catherine Collier, Marketing and Development Manager said ‘with the new 200 metre cycle trail in the Onny Meadows, younger visitors will get the chance to learn how to balance ride, visitors of all ages can have a go on the variety of adaptive cycles supplied by local companies Quest 88 and Cycling Projects. Plush Hill Cycles will be leading a 15mile cycle ride in the Shropshire countryside, leaving at 11am from the Discovery Centre. We also have a range of activities inside the centre, there will be lots to do as well half price entry to the exhibition that tells the story of the Shropshire Hills and houses the impressive replica of the mammoth skeleton found in Shropshire in the 1980’s.'

It is advisable to book for the cycle ride and learning to balance ride, call the Discovery Centre on 01588 676060 or visit the website for details:
