The First Casualty of War is Truth, re:collect Exhibition

1st June to 5th July Shrewsbury Museum & Art Gallery open daily 10.00am to 5.00pm

2015 marks 101 years since the start of the First World War.

This exhibition, by re:collect artists; Sue Challis, Jacqui Dodds, Julie Edwards, Jill Impey, Ann Kelcey and Elizabeth Turner, forms part of Shropshire’s programme of commemorative events, cultural activity and education, to honour and remember the lives of those who served in and were affected by the War.

The exhibition attempts to break down some of the spin and propaganda around how the First World War was and still is represented in the media. The artworks aim to expose truths obscured by time, loss and misinformation and respond to the notion "the first casualty of war is truth".

The programme of work is funded by Arts Council West Midlands, Shropshire Council is supported by the Shrewsbury Museum & Art Gallery.
