Shrewsbury Food Festival: Bigger and Better!

Fine food, live music and chef demonstrations give county foodie event its third year of success

The picturesque county of Shropshire held its third annual Shrewsbury Food Festival on 27th-28th June. With 23,000 visitors flocking to the town's Quarry for the foodie event and a record number of exhibitors offering crowds their delicious local produce - this year was bigger and better than ever. Event organisers calculations suggest that the popular festival has generated nearly £1 million for the local economy.

Fine Food

Shrewsbury Food Festival offered visitors the perfect setting to indulge in the best food and drink from Shropshire - and some delicious products from further afield too. Celebrity chef Marcus Bean showed off his cooking skills on the Wenlock Spring Demonstration Stage. Traders stalls laden with delectable delights managed to sell all of their goods on the first day and spent the night replenishing stock. And local bands entertained the crowds on The Buttermarket music stage, for visitors to enjoy the best of unsigned musicians.

Today organisers were back in the office prepping for next year's event, using the same area of the park. Shrewsbury Food Festival are hoping to add even more exhibitors to their books for 2016 returning on the last weekend in June - to bring even more family fun, entertainment and delicious food and drink to Shrewsbury town.

Event chair, Andy Richardson, commented: "Shrewsbury Food Festival has gone from strength to strength, with each year bigger than the last - and we hope to see that continue for many years to come. Shrewsbury is becoming more synonymous with great food and drink, thanks to both the success of the food festival and the wonderful producers we have exhibiting. We are very grateful to everyone who has helped out this year - we will be back again next year and raising the stakes, the work starts today."
