Time Travellers’ Ironbridge Quest comes to Coalbrookdale. (22nd July 2015)

Time Travellers’ Ironbridge Quest comes to Coalbrookdale.

Part of Shifting Worlds Contemporary Arts Programme The House of Fairy Tales, a national children’s arts charity established by artists Gavin Turk and Deborah Curtis, will be producing a free family festival taking over Enginuity, Coalbrookdale Museum of Iron and the Darby Houses, near Ironbridge on Saturday, 22nd August.

Saturday 22nd August

Time Travellers’ Ironbridge Quest is part of ‘Shifting Worlds’, an exciting programme of contemporary arts events and installations running throughout the summer and autumn of 2015 by the Ironbridge Gorge Museum Trust in partnership with Meadow Arts, having secured a grant from Arts Council England.

Families will be invited to embark on a mysterious quest and follow an amazing trail with a wealth of games, clues, tasks, challenges and artist led workshops. There will be six different routes with ‘Reward Tokens’ for each successfully completed trail. These can be followed in any order and will have suggested time guides to help families plan their day.

Storytellers, artists and performers will transform the Coalbrookdale site into a giant festival venue and offer families the opportunity to let their imagination go wild, get creative and explore how industry changed their lives.

The interactive adventure will unlock many of the complex ‘secrets’ to be told on this all important historic site taking in Enginuity, the Museum of Iron, Darby Houses and Abraham Darby’s original Old Furnace. It will also weave in stories through the ‘Shifting Worlds’ art commissions already installed and pave the way for those yet to come.

There will be free admission on 22nd August to Enginuity, Coalbrookdale Museum of Iron and the Darby Houses, which will be open from 10am until 5pm. Parking for the event will be at the Ironbridge Park and Ride (TF4 3QE) a short bus ride away; on site accessible parking will be available for Blue Badge holders.

For further information, contact the Ironbridge Tourist Information Centre on Tel: 01952 433 424 or visit and The Gorge is easily reached via the M6 and M54 motorways exiting at Telford (M54 junction 4 or 6).
