Ironwork Centre Plays Host To Sheep Dog Trials (23rd July 2015)

Ironwork Centre Plays Host To Sheep Dog Trials

An Oswestry company known for its spectacular, life-sized animal sculptures, is set to be visited by creatures of the living variety! The British Ironwork Centre, Aston, whose impressive portfolio features an incredible array of animals both large and small, will host Sheepdog Trials within its Sculpture Park.

Saturday 22nd August 2015

With up to 80 dogs competing in 2 sessions of trialling throughout the day competitors will complete a pre-determined course to test the skills of both dogs and their handlers – some of whom are members of the International Sheepdog Society.

Visitors to the centre will be able to see this unique sport first hand for FREE and proceeds from the trial entry fees will be donated to the Hope House Children’s Hospice. Prize money for competitors will be donated by the Ironworks Centre.

Clive Knowles, the Centre’s Chairman, said “The Welsh National Sheepdog Trials is a huge event into which Alun Jones, President of the Welsh National Sheepdog Trials and his team have put an enormous amount of time and effort – we are only too pleased to be able to offer our support.”

“We’re excited at the prospect of working in collaboration with Alun to host Sheepdog Trials in August – the Centre and the Sculpture Park provide a fantastic setting for an event of this nature.”

“We hope that this event will provide a further tourist attraction for Oswestry and Shropshire.”

Competitors can obtain an entry form for the trial from the Ironworks website at www.britishironworkcentre.co.uk or by contacting the trial secretary Gayle Forrester on 01691 672912
