Teddy Bear's Picnic at Dudmaston (24th August 2015)

Teddy Bear's Picnic at Dudmaston

Bank Holiday Sunday 30 and Monday 31 August 11:00am - 5:30pm

Image shows: Our ‘Merrythought bear with no name’ and his friends looking forward to their picnic,

Treat your favourite teddy bear to a picnic at Dudmaston this bank holiday weekend. Join in the fun with face painting, Punch and Judy, Magic shows and lots of teddy themed treats. Try your hand at feeding our tame bear, bring your bear to listen to storytelling and meet ‘Teddy’, Lady Labouchere’s very own V.I.B. (very important bear) in the Hall. Can you think of a name for our Merrythought bear, the best suggestion will win him. Make a party hat or teddy bear mask to wear and see if you can find all the bears hiding in the garden on our trail.

Events and Marketing Officer, Caroline Norcott, said “there has been a lot of excitement at Dudmaston as we prepare for our Teddy Bear’s Picnic, none more so than when our Merrythought bear arrived. Merrythought, a traditional bear manufacturer based in Ironbridge, have kindly donated him to us to help us raise funds for the front door repairs so we are extremely grateful to them and we look forward to seeing who wins this special bear. August bank holiday is always special to Dudmaston as we celebrate the birthday of Rachel, Lady Labouchere, our last owner. We will celebrate her birthday with lots of fun, her teddy bear will be on show, the staff are bringing theirs and we hope that our visitors will also bring along their special teddy to enjoy the day.”

There are plenty of other things for people to enjoy including new installations, ‘Unheard Voices’ and ‘Dudmaston: Something Old Something New’ in the Galleries, which provides visitors with a special moment of peace and reflection amongst all the teddy fun.

Normal admission charge applies with a small additional charges for trails, crafts, face painting and name the bear competition.
