Germany’s confrontation with the Holocaust in a global context

7th – 13th September

A free exhibition exploring the way Germany has confronted the horrific crimes of the Holocaust will be shown at the Fusion Gallery, Jackfield Tile Museum, near Ironbridge from Monday 7th until Sunday 13th September (10am-5pm). The exhibition also draws parallels to other global contexts and explores how nations and individuals confront traumatic histories.

The exhibition was designed and produced by academics in the German Department at the University of Leeds, in collaboration with the South African Holocaust and Genocide Foundation; the UK National Holocaust Centre and Museum; Nottingham Trent University and the University of the Free State, South Africa. It is being co-hosted by the Ironbridge Institute for Cultural Heritage and the Institute of German Studies, both from the University of Birmingham.

On Tuesday 8th September a private viewing and panel discussion with experts in the field will take place at Fusion between 7pm and 9.15pm; transport to and from the University of Birmingham will be provided. This event is free but please register in advance by emailing Alex Brown on
