Image shows: Our resident ‘bodger’ Simon demonstrating pole lathing

Join us at Dudmaston this Sunday and meet the craftsmen that turn a block of wood into a thing of beauty. Watch our Ranger team as they demonstrate ancient and modern wood working techniques from traditional hand worked pole lathing to current milling machines. Find out more about how we manage our woodland and take a tour around the Dingle with our Area Ranger. Have children that want to get creative? Get them to make a bug house to take home with them

Events and Marketing Officer, Caroline Norcott, said “The woodlands are at the heart of the Dudmaston Estate and they have been managed successfully for many years. We are proud of our woodland heritage and we always look forward to our Wood Fair as a way to celebrate the importance of woodcraft to the sustainability of the estate. Our rangers can’t wait to meet you all and demonstrate their craft to you and maybe this time they will let me have a go at pole lathing”

There are plenty of other things for people to enjoy including new installations, ‘Unheard Voices’ and ‘Dudmaston: Something Old Something New’ in the Galleries, which provides visitors with a special moment of peace and reflection amongst all the woodland fun.

Normal admission charge applies with a small additional charge for crafts.
