A celebration for Apley Farm shop

With so much planned in for Apley Farm, the new butcher John Callinswood prepares to make his mark in a number of competitions with locally sourced produce. Celebrations continue as Apley welcomes their first delivery of British White Cattle!

John Callinswood, winner of 2 gold stars for the 2012 Great Taste awards for his steak, mustard & stilton pie, joined the butchery team at Apley Farm Shop near Bridgnorth.

From the 2nd-8th of November, John is entering the Great British Sausage Week with a selection of Apley sausages. During that week Apley Farm shop are opening up their doors to new sausage ideas and special recipes from customers, for John to trial, the winner will be announced and a prize given on the 8th of November! As well as this, Apley Farm Shop are also hoping to take a bite of The Great Yorkshire Pork Pie & Sausage competition on the 11th of October!

Continuing to support the milestones in the Autumn/Winter calendar, Apley Farm Shop are ready for Christmas orders, from boneless goose to free range turkey and other Christmas meats & pies!

The first delivery of rare-breed beef from British White cattle has arrived in Apley Farm Shop recently & will be available for purchase by mid-October. Farmed on the Apley Estate one mile from the Farm Shop and grass reared adding a slightly different taste.

Lady Hamilton, Marketing Manager said: “Some customers who came to the Apley Taste Off told me how much they’d enjoyed their first meal of beef from the herd of British White cattle & how tasty it was”

“The butcher supplies us with the meat we eat at home or out, such as in our Creamery Café. More than ever, we need to know how & where that’s produced. Also, as the butcher is a core business to many farm shops, it’s essential it’s innovative & open-minded.

The butchery team is busy preparing for the forthcoming autumn & winter seasons, sourcing the best poultry (chicken, turkey, goose & duck) from Shropshire & its surrounding counties, including Richard Botterill Poultry. Mr Botterill is one of the UK’s premier poultry producers who supplies, amongst others, the Ginger Pig restaurants in London. They rear their heritage chickens on the Belvoir Estate in Leicestershire where they walk the geese through the village every day.
