Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre hosts Cookery Launch on Saturday 6th February (2nd February 2016)

Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre hosts Cookery Launch on Saturday 6th February

The award winning Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre has a packed programme of cookery workshops on offer, thanks to the pop up kitchen sponsored by Ludlow Food Festival. The Discovery Centre will host a day of free talks, demonstrations and cookery sessions at the Cookery Launch on Saturday 6th February 9am – 4pm

To kick start the cookery workshops the Cookery Launch on Saturday 6th February will give visitors the opportunity to pick up hints and tips with demonstrations from local chefs. From bread making sessions to cooking with herbs and spices the Cajun-Caribbean way and even a talk from local bee keeper Tom Hall about the honey he produces and sells locally. There will be a chance to pick up some local produce at the Farmers Market too.

Looking for something to do with the kids? They won’t be left out either with a ‘fun food’ hands-on cookery session for children aged 4-7 yrs old 11am – 12 noon.

In addition to cookery sessions being held at the Discovery Centre over the coming months and a Caribbean Supper on Tuesday 23rd February, visitors will also find out more about the free community cookery workshops and training for all ages and abilities. The workshops aim to help you improve your cooking skills, save money on meals, make new friends and the courses will help you take the first steps into a career in catering or the food industry and move on to doing a qualification in Catering and Hospitality.

“We’re delighted to be able to offer a varied programme of interesting cookery sessions, certificated courses and work experience opportunities taking place at the Discovery Centre and at outreach locations“ said Laura Harvey, Learning Development Officer, “Using our brand new ‘Ludlow Food Festival pop-up kitchen’ and delivered by qualified and experienced tutors, we are all set to get south Shropshire cooking during 2016 so come along on Saturday 6th February to the Discovery Centre to find out more!”
