Shrewsbury rated one of the Best Small UK Towns for Winter Breaks

Our county town Shrewsbury is said to be one of the top 10 best small UK towns for winter breaks according to The Guardian. The town has been commended on its historic buildings, modern restaurants, cosy pubs and independent shops and it’s believed to sparkle in the Christmas season.

Shrewsbury is home to 650 listed buildings; half- timbered Tudors and Jacobean marvels filled with history and heritage. The medieval feel to the town does not steer you to think it is outdated, as Shrewsbury is described to be a dynamic weekend destination. And what better way to portray how diverse Shropshire’s County Town really is, than with their food.

Shrewsbury is praised for its vast range of places to eat and drink. It’s noted for the way it embraces different cultures in the variety of different restaurants there is to offer. Take your pick between, chopsticks and noodles with a side plate of sushi at the Japanese and Ramen bars or a burger and fries washed down with a milkshake at the American style diners. Test your taste buds at one of the many curry houses or tickle your senses with at our Thai restaurants recently added to the town. Shrewsbury is not too shy to share its heritage with its visitors, with local produce used within the ingredients it really gives you a taste of Shropshire. And in the winter months what better way to celebrate the festive season with a pint of local ale or a glass of warm mulled wine surrounded by friends and family. Shopping in the town should not go unmissed as Wyle Cop is described to sweep the town with a flourish of independent stores- so you will not be short of finding a unique gift for that special someone. On the second weekend of December, Shrewsbury Winterfest will sprinkle Christmas spirits all over the Quarry Park with festive crafts, stalls and carols.

Lastly Shrewsbury is applauded for its cosy, comfy, welcoming places to rest your head on the cold wintery nights. The town accommodates for all sizes, prices and comforts. So book early to avoid disappointment.
