Ironbridge Gorge Walking Festival Marches On In 2010 (25th January 2010)
Saturday 1 - Sunday 9 May
The Ironbridge Gorge Walking Festival, which runs from Saturday 1st to Sunday 9th May, has expanded last year’s programme to include over 20 guided walks and will include some challenging full day outings in and around the glorious Ironbridge Gorge World Heritage Site.
Led by expert guides, there will be themed walks taking in the fascinating flora, fauna and archaeological history of the Ironbridge Gorge. For the more adventurous there are also longer walks along the South Telford Heritage Trail and a circular tour of the Gorge, making the festival both more challenging for the experienced walker, and interesting for those wanting to find out more about this beautiful area.
Co-ordinated by Cherry’s Café at the Green Wood Centre in Coalbrookdale, the festival is organised and funded by a partnership of several local groups including the Green Wood Centre, Severn Gorge Countryside Trust, Ironbridge Gorge Museum Trust, Walkabout Wrekin Walking for Health, South Telford Rights of Way Partnership, Shropshire Wildlife Trust and NHS Telford & Wrekin Community Health Service. Each group leads its own routes and every walk has a specific theme such as the Wild Garlic Ramble and Coalbrookdale Arboretum on Saturday, 1st May leaving the Green Wood Centre at 2pm, and a Dawn Chorus Walk at Benthall Edge starting at 5.30am on Sunday, 2nd May.

Well behaved dogs on a lead are welcome on most walks but please check before booking.
