RAF Museum Cosford

Set in scenic Shropshire next to an active airfield, the Royal Air Force Museum Cosford has 70 aircraft on display in 3 wartime hangars and within the new National Cold War Exhibition.

10.00am Arrive at RAF Museum Cosford

Enter the Museum through the Visitor Centre where you can start your day with a morning coffee in the Aviator restaurant or purchase a guide book from the admissions point. Step into the history of the RAF and see a timeline of people and events that have shaped the Royal Air Force.

Hangar 2 is where you can view the Museums collection of Research and Development aircraft. For children and adults alike the 'hands on' interactive fun 'n' flight area will answer all your questions about how aircraft stay up in the air or take a ride on the advanced flight simulator.

Moving next into the adjacent Hangar 3 you can view the War Planes collection and artefacts of the time including the worlds oldest Spitfire.

11.30am National Cold War Exhibition

On entering the new National Cold War Exhibition you will be wowed by the aircraft suspended in flying attitudes from the ceiling. 6 audio visual 'hotspots' are available, each individually themed telling key stories of the Cold War. 21 interactive kiosks allow visitors to find in-depth knowledge of the exhibits on show plus a wide range of events and people who influenced that period of time. Other must sees include a genuine section of the Berlin Wall, civilian and military transport and the newly located Museum Shop.

The Aviator restaurant in the Visitor Centre serves hot and cold meals and snacks and a wide selection of drinks. Menu's can be pre-booked for groups in advance or guests can choose from the menu on the day.
