A Taste of Shropshire - Option 1

Visit Ludlow Castle (open every day except weekdays in December & January). This impressive stronghold was once the seat of government for Wales and the Border Counties. There is a castle tea room, extensive shop and toilet facilities. Allow 1 hour - www.ludlowcastle.com

Travel 10 minutes to Ludlow Food Centre. Enjoy a food tasting and shopping experience with produce sourced from Shropshire and the surrounding counties. The shopping area is surrounded by eight food production kitchens where you can see the food being prepared. Ludlow Food Centre welcomes groups for presentations and tastings (cheese, sausages, bread, jams and pickles). Visit Shrewsbury, 40 minutes away, with its array of independent shops and eateries. Take a walking tour with a town guide, follow in Charles Darwin's footsteps and explore the historic black and white 'magpie' buildings. Allow 2.5hours including lunch. - www.shrewsburyforgroups.com

Enjoy an afternoon of wine tasting at Wroxeter Roman Vineyard in the foothills of the Wrekin by the Roman City of Viroconium. Fascinating winery tutorials and a large shop selling locally grown wines (white, red, rosé and sparkling) are available. Allow 1.5hours.

Coach Parking

Ludlow: Drop off and pick up point at the top of Mill Street outside the Assembly Rooms. Free coach parking at the Lower Galdeford car/coach park.

Ludlow Food Centre & Wroxeter Vineyard: Ample onsite.

Shrewsbury: Drop off and pick up point at Barker Street, which will allow convenient town centre access. Coach parking at Abbey Foregate and Frankwell car parks.
