A Taste of Shropshire - Option 2

Including TASTE Experience at Shropshire Food Enterprise Centre, Battlefield 1403 and a tour around Shrewsbury

Start your trip at Shropshire Food Enterprise Centre, a state of the art facility on the north side of Shrewsbury managed by HEART of ENGLAND fine foods (HEFF). This unique development is the centre of excellence for regional food and drink, with a modern café restaurant, demonstration kitchen and local food store.

Watch a cookery demonstration by the HEFF Development Chef and learn about the producers and the fabulous food and drink that is produced in this region. Get hands on with some chocolate work, pork pie making or cup cake decorating, enjoy a tutored tasting or experience a food and wine matching session. Take a tour of one of the state of the art food production units such as Mr Moyden's Handmade Cheese and see how this artisan award winning cheese is made.

Got more time? Browse around the local food store. All of the food and drink sold in store is made by HEART of ENGLAND fine foods' members from Shropshire and the surrounding counties, including those based in the production units at the food centre. Allow 1.5 - 2 hours -

Travel 10 minutes to Battlefield 1403 and discover more about the Battle of Shrewsbury at the Exhibition Centre. You can also buy locally sourced produce at the farm shop and butchery, taste the delights in Sparrow's Cafe or simply enjoy the fresh air along the Battlefield walk to the historic St Mary Magdalene Church. Allow 1.5 hours -

Continue into Shrewsbury Town Centre, 10 minutes away, with its array of independent shops and eateries. Take a walking tour with a town guide or a boat tour on the River Severn.
